It has ion exchange functionality in acidic, neutral, and even alkaline solutions. It is primarily used for the purification and decolorization of sugar solutions and lactic acid, and for the removal of inorganic and organic acids in the production of citric acid, streptomycin, malic acid, amino acids, antibiotics, and more.
