INQUIRY

Alfa Chemistry has many years of experience in ion exchange resin regeneration services and has established long-term cooperative relationships with customers from all over the world. Our ultra-high resin recycling technology is the reason why customers choose us. We will always create higher resin value for customers as our own responsibility. We can accept any of the following resins:

  • Cation Resins
  • Anion Resins
  • Mixed Bed Resins
  • Chelating Resins
  • Pure Water Resins
  • Other Types of Resin

Why Resin Regeneration Is Needed?

After the ion exchange resin is used for a period, the adsorbed impurities are close to the saturated state. When the adsorption capacity reaches saturation, the impurities can no longer be adsorbed, and the resin needs to be regenerated, and the adsorbed ions and other impurities in the resin are eluted with chemicals. Remove it to restore its original composition and performance. In actual application, to reduce the cost of regeneration, it is necessary to appropriately control the amount of regenerating agent to restore the performance of the resin to the most economical and reasonable level of regeneration. Usually, the degree of performance recovery is controlled at about 70-80%.

Ion exchangers were the first to be used for resin regeneration, but a large amount of inorganic acids and alkalis were needed to continuously remove adsorbed salt ions. For example, it has been found that to remove one equivalent of salt, 1.2-3 equivalents of inorganic acid and 1.3-2 equivalents of base must be used. This desalination process causes high operating costs and produces a large amount of by-product salty waste, and requires a large amount of acid and alkali consumption. To overcome these problems, new methods of regenerating ion exchange resins by other methods have been studied, such as thermal energy (Sirotherm process), electrical energy (electrodialysis) or mechanical energy (piezodialysis).
