Treatment of Organic Pollution in Ionic Resins

The mechanism of resin absorption of organic

The ionic resin contains porous ion channels in a three-dimensional network structure. The inner wall of the channel is covered with a large number of functional groups, which serve as the active points of the ion exchange reaction. Once this active site is covered, it will hinder the ion exchange process. Therefore, in the ion exchange process, once the ions or macromolecules with high exchange potential and strong adhesion are adsorbed or exchanged on the resin, it is difficult to elute during regeneration, which will cause the ion exchange process to be blocked. In another case, insoluble deposits are generated during the ion exchange reaction and deposited inside the resin, blocking the ion exchange channels. (Ju F.,2015)

Characteristics of Organic Pollution Resin

  • The color becomes darker, from light yellow to dark brown to black.
  • The working exchange capacity is reduced, and the cycle water production is significantly reduced.
  • The organic acid leaks into the effluent water, increasing the conductivity of the exchange fluid.
  • The SiO2 content increases.
  • The amount of cleaning water increased.

It can be seen from Table 1 that among the four resuscitation methods, the total exchange capacity of contaminated resin after resuscitation by organic solvent method can reach up to 3.03mmol/g, and it can increase the solubility and migration power of organic matter, which is the best resuscitation method.
